Recruiting athletes is one of the hardest jobs for college coaches. With that in mind, Muskingum baseball coach Gregg Thompson must feel lucky to have found his top two players in his own backyard.

Today the Ohio Athletic Conference announced its all-conference teams and the only Muskies honored were a pair from John Glenn High School.

Freshman Wes Carder and Brock Whiteman were named second team All-OAC after steller rookie campaigns.

It's already been over a week since Zanesville baseball last played a game. What's another day, right?

Orginally scheduled for Thursday night, then moved to Friday, Zanesville baseball will now play its District final against Carrollton at 2 p.m. Saturday from Steubenville's Vaccaro Field.

With rain causing Thursday's District final between River View and Edison to be postponed until Friday, the Blue Devils' District title game has also been moved again.

Muskingum didn't have its first lead until the eighth inning and even then it didn't last long.

After rallying to tie the game 1-1 in the top of the seventh and going ahead, 2-1, with one in the eighth, the Lady Muskies allowed the Eagles to score a pair of runs in the bottom of the extra inning to seal the win.

Dave Everson came to Zanesville High School four years ago with hopes of reestablishing the rich tradition of Blue Devil Football.

Now what was supposed to be his banner year isn’t going to happen. Last night in a meeting with Zanesville Superintendent Terry Martin and high school principal Dick Lear, Everson was informed that he was being let go as the head football coach.
