Unlike the OAC tournament last weekend, Muskingum got its offense going early and avoided another nailbiter... at least for now.

Longevity. Inspiration. Amazement.

At 97 years, Marie Thomas drives herself to the bowling alley twice a week where she competes in leagues throughout the year.

WHIZ's Aaron Spragg recently spent an afternoon with the Zanesville resident where she taught him how to throw a hook ball and what has kept the hall of famer going in her 77 year bowling career.

Zanesville senior Alex Cultice carries a team-beat .440 batting average this season. And to think, hitting isn't even his best asset. It's his arm.

Cultice isn't real intimidating when he takes the hill. He's an average build kid with an uncanny kindness. His numbers and succes tell a different story though. One that explains why the Blue Devils have won so much with the ball in his hand.

Muskingum head softball coach Donna Newberry thought her team had a pretty good shot at hosting one of eight NCAA Regional rounds this weekend after the Lady Muskies won their 10th straight OAC championship.

She was right on!

As the top ranked team in the Central Region, Muskingum (34-9) has earned the top seed of the eight team regional tournament and will host the event in New Concord from Thursday, May 10 to Sunday, May 12.
