The game can take so many quick twist and turns and thats what happening to the number-two nationaly ranked Muskingum Softball team.

After starting the season preseason ranked number-one in Division III the Muskies have since dropped to number two and lost three of their last four games.

On Friday Lady Muskies started off with a 2-1 win over number-eleven Moravian in the NFCA Division III Leadoff Classic in Panama City, Florida.

The more this team plays together the better they get. Saturday night the River View Black Bears controled the tempo of the game and the 39-19 score showed.

The Lady Black Bears held the Lady Punchers to only two points in the third quarter and eight points the entire second half.

Leading the way for River View was Kari Daugherty with 16 points and seven rebounds. Big 'Sis' Kristin contributed with 14 points and eight boards.

One bad inning has ultimately cost Muskingum softball its number one ranking in all of Division III.

Wednesday, the National Fastpitch Coaches Association released its first regular season top 25 poll and the Lady Muskies are now ranked second.

With a 3-1 record at the time of the voting, nine-time OAC champion Muskingum received five first place votes, but came in second to the new number one team Ithaca (NY). The Bombers have yet to play this season.
