The attorney for former Ohio State running back Maurice Clarett, Alan Milstein, filed an emergency appeal with the U.S. Supreme Court Tuesday.
Milstein asked the nation's highest court to lift the stay issued Monday by the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals. The stay, in effect, declares Clarett and other underclassmen, including USC receiver Mike Williams, ineligible for the NFL until there can be a meaningful review of the issues.
The 19-year-old became the youngest player in the annals of the NBA to win the league's rookie of the year award. James beat out fellow teenage prodigy Carmelo Anthony of the Denver Nuggets for the honor.
James averaged 20.9 points, 5.5 rebounds and 5.9 assists per game this season. The Cavs guard joined Oscar Robertson and Michael Jordan as the only rookies to average over 20 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.
The 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New York declared on Monday former Ohio State running back Maurice Clarett ineligible for this weekend's NFL draft.

Blood tests show that drugs and alcohol were not involved, but investigations continue. Weathersby overcame a drive-by shooting last year to play 4 games on special teams as a Cinci rookie.
Maurice Clarett doesn't seem to be gaining too many supporters on his way to the NFL.

That group would not include Ohio State's Clarett and wideout Mike Williams from Southern Cal. The brief focused on antitrust violations.
The NFL draft is on April 24th and 25th. Clarett's case will be heard in a...
