In years past, Zanesville softball wasn't necessarily known for sending athletes to the next level.

Times have changed.

For the second consecutive year, a talented middle infielder from Carrie Bunting's Lady Devils has signed with a Division II school.

Muskingum men's basketball lost to Oberlin, 71-55, in the Muskies' home opener. Sophomore Joshua Keyes notched his first career double-double for Muskingum with 11 points and 10 rebounds. The Muskies host Kenyon at on Sunday.

When Muskingum women's basketball hosts Mount St. Joseph Wednesday night, the message behind the game may be more important than the final score.

The game is being called the "Play for 22" game, in honor of Mount St. Joseph freshman forward Lauren Hill, who is battling an inoperable form of brain cancer called Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG).

Maysville point guard Brooke Smith inked a letter of intent to Ashland University today, joining a Lady Eagles squad that captured the Division II National Championship just two seasons ago.

"They're a close-knit family and I knew I wanted to be a part of something like that," Smith said of Ashland, comparing the team camaraderie to that of the Lady Panthers. "The coaches care; the teammates care."

Tri-Valley senior wrestler Kade Kowalski won't venture far to pursue his collegiate wrestling career. The first state champion in school history and second in MVL history signed with the Ohio Bobcats on Tuesday at Tri-Valley High School.

Kowalski captured the 145-pound state championship with a 6-2 decision over Trey Grine of Fremont Ross in March. He is currently ranked 17th in the nation according to Flo Wrestling and 18th in the nation according to InterMat in the 152-pound weight...
