NEW YORK (AP) — Alex Rodriguez hit a three-run homer to break Lou Gehrig's American League record for RBIs, and the New York Yankees beat the Kansas City Royals 4-2 Wednesday to finish a three-game sweep.

NEW YORK (AP) — Nike says it is cooperating with authorities in the U.S. probe into corruption of FIFA, the governing body of soccer worldwide.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — Aaron Hicks homered for the first time in more than a year and the Minnesota Twins extended their winning streak to five games with a 6-4 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday.

Eddie Rosario also homered for Minnesota, which has won nine of 11. The Twins swept Boston for the first time since June 13-15, 2006.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. (AP) — Felix Hernandez pitched a four-hitter to become the major's first eight-game winner, Nelson Cruz hit his AL-best 18th homer to snap a scoreless tie in the ninth inning and the Seattle Mariners completed a three-game sweep by beating the Tampa Bay Rays 3-0 on Wednesday.

FLORHAM PARK, N.J. (AP) — The New York Jets will have a quarterback competition, after all.

Well, sort of.

Coach Todd Bowles says Wednesday that Geno Smith will head into training camp as the starter, and says it's the third-year's quarterback's job to lose. Bowles insists there will be competition at the position this summer — even if Ryan Fitzpatrick doesn't necessarily split snaps with Smith running the first-team offense.

HOUSTON (AP) — The Houston Texans will be the stars of this season of "Hard Knocks."
