TORONTO (AP) — New York Knicks All-Star Carmelo Anthony has been elected to the NBA Players Association's executive committee as a vice president.

Anthony was voted in by players Friday during a meeting at All-Star weekend.

The veteran joins close friends Chris Paul, the union president, and LeBron James, who was elected a vice president last year, on the nine-player committee.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Pitcher Tommy Hunter and the Cleveland Indians have agreed to a one-year contract.

A 29-year-old right-hander, Hunter was 4-2 with a 4.18 ERA in 58 relief appearances for Baltimore and the Chicago Cubs, who acquired him on July 31 for outfielder Junior Lake.

NEW YORK (AP) — Closer Aroldis Chapman and the New York Yankees have agreed to a one-year contract worth $11,325,000, avoiding salary arbitration.

Acquired from Cincinnati in December, Chapman had asked for $13.1 million and had been offered $9 million when the sides exchanged figures last month. The agreement Friday was $275,000 above the midpoint.

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — The contracts of defensive end Quinton Coples and cornerback Brice McCain have been terminated by the Miami Dolphins, saving the team about $10 million in salary cap space.

Coples, a former first-round draft pick, was acquired off waivers from the New York Jets in November and played in six games as a reserve. McCain, a seven-year veteran, spent one season with Miami and started 11 games in 2015.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — Louisville coach Rick Pitino says he won't bring back injured junior forward Mangok Mathiang now that the No. 13 Cardinals are out of postseason following a self-imposed ban.

ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Braves say they are planning a new Hank Aaron statue at SunTrust Park, which will open in 2017.
