CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago Bulls have signed first-round draft pick Bobby Portis and added Randy Brown and Charlie Henry as assistants to new coach Fred Hoiberg.

They also announced Tuesday they are retaining assistant Mike Wilhelm.

Portis, the No. 22 overall pick, was the SEC Player of the Year last season at Arkansas. A 6-foot-11 forward, he ranked second in the conference in scoring at 17.5 points per game and averaged 8.9 rebounds....

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Midfielder Lauren Holiday says she plans to retire from the U.S. national team following its World Cup victory.

Holiday disclosed her plans Tuesday after a victory rally for the Americans in downtown Los Angeles.

DENVER (AP) — The Colorado Rockies' two newest All-Stars are hoping they can bring a third along to Cincinnati next week.

Third baseman Nolan Arenado and second baseman DJ LeMahieu were named reserves to NL team on Monday and will find out Friday if star teammate Troy Tulowitzki will join them. Tulowitzki is on the Final Vote ballot, which is voted upon by fans until 4 p.m. Friday.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — NASCAR will use track-specific rules packages at three more race tracks as the sanctioning body continues to try to improve the racing.

DENVER (AP) — The Colorado Rockies claimed right-handed pitcher Gonzalez Germen off waivers from the Chicago Cubs and assigned him to Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday.

To make room for Germen on the 40-man roster the Rockies have transferred first baseman Justin Morneau to the 60-day disabled list.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Texas Rangers agreed to terms with Cuban infielder Andy Ibanez on an international free-agent contract on Tuesday.

The 22-year-old Ibanez hit .283 with 13 home runs during the past three seasons in Cuba's top league. He was the youngest player on the Cuban team in the 2013 World Baseball Classic.

NEW YORK (AP) — The first-place Yankees are about to get a pair of important players back at once.

New York closer Andrew Miller and center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury are expected to come off the disabled list Wednesday before the Yankees host Oakland.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) — The father of Memphis' Austin Nichols says the 6-foot-9 forward is seeking a transfer.

Mark Nichols said Tuesday that "it doesn't look like he'll be back at Memphis" but that the school has denied his request for a release "at this point." Mark Nichols says Austin plans to go through an appeals process seeking a release.

CBS Sports first reported that Mark Nichols indicated his son intends to transfer.
