BOSTON (AP) — The Red Sox have placed struggling right-hander Rick Porcello on the 15-day disabled list because of soreness in his right triceps.

To fill his spot on the roster, Boston added newly acquired right-handed reliever Ryan Cook.

CHICAGO (AP) — The New York Yankees have placed reliever Diego Moreno on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow inflammation.

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. (AP) — The New York Racing Association will raise the purse of the $1.25 million Travers Stakes at Saratoga to $1.6 million if Triple Crown winner American Pharoah starts in the race.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Twins will place pitcher Tommy Milone on the 15-day disabled list with a mild left elbow strain, retroactive to Aug. 1.

SPARTANBURG, S.C. (AP) — The Carolina Panthers have waived injured wide receiver Stephen Hill after he suffered a torn right ACL in practice.

BOSTON (AP) — The Tampa Bay Rays have demoted left-hander Matt Moore to the minors to continue his comeback from Tommy John surgery.
