BOSTON (AP) — The Tampa Bay Rays expect to learn more about right-hander Alex Cobb's arm injury after returning for an eight-game homestand.

Manager Kevin Cash says he expects an update after the Rays return home from a three-game series in Boston. Tampa Bay opens a four-game series at home against the Texas Rangers on Thursday night.

HOUSTON (AP) — Los Angeles Clippers point guard Chris Paul will miss his second straight game with a strained left hamstring, sitting out Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals against Houston.

Paul was injured Saturday night against San Antonio, but returned to hit the winning shot to eliminate the Spurs.

HOUSTON (AP) — Houston Astros outfielder George Springer missed Wednesday night's game against the Texas Rangers and was being evaluated for a possible concussion.

Springer left Tuesday's game after making a spectacular catch for the last out of the seventh inning as he ran into the wall. Springer slowly came off the field under his own power and was replaced the next inning.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Cincinnati Reds first baseman Joey Votto was ejected and then made contact with home plate umpire Chris Conroy during the third inning of Wednesday night's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

After Votto struck out swinging against Gerrit Cole to end the inning, he flung his bat and helmet to the ground.

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Former Washington starting point guard Nigel Williams-Goss will transfer to Gonzaga and be eligible for the 2016-17 season when the series between the Huskies and Bulldogs is scheduled to resume.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The Colts have agreed to contract terms with five of their eight draft picks.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — NASCAR star Clint Bowyer was on hand at Kauffman Stadium on Wednesday night to watch his beloved Kansas City Royals take on the Cleveland Indians.

CHICAGO (AP) — White Sox rookie pitcher Carlos Rodon is slated to make his first major league starti Saturday against Cincinnati.

Rodon is to start in place of Jeff Samardzija, who on Wednesday started serving a five-game suspension for his involvement in a bench-clearing brawl against Kansas City on April 23.
