LOS ANGELES (AP) — James Kaprielian threw seven strong innings, and Kevin Kramer had three hits and scored twice to lead No. 1 overall seed UCLA to a 7-2 victory over CSU Bakersfield in the Los Angeles Regional on Friday night.

Luke Persico and Christoph Bono had two hits and two RBIs apiece to help UCLA (43-14) into a winner's bracket game against Maryland (40-21) on Saturday. CSU Bakersfield (36-23-1) will take on Mississippi in an elimination game.

FULLERTON, Calif. (AP) — Cal State Fullerton scored six runs in the third inning and cruised to a 9-3 victory over Pepperdine on Friday night in the opening round of the Fullerton Regional.

Trailing 2-1, Fullerton sent 12 batters to the plate in the third and scored six runs on just one hit. Three Pepperdine pitchers combined to walk five and hit three batters, and the Waves committed two errors.

BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) — Ryan Foster scattered eight hits in a complete-game victory, and UNC Wilmington used a seven-run fourth inning to rout Tulane 10-1 on Friday night in the Baton Rouge Regional.

EUGENE, Ore. (AP) — British Olympic champion Mo Farah surged down the final stretch to win the 10,000 meters at the Prefontaine Classic on Friday night.

Kenyan Paul Tanui led going into the last lap at Hayward Field but Farah overtook him and pulled well ahead to finish in 26 minutes, 50.97 seconds.

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Derek Norris hit a grand slam with two outs in the bottom of the ninth to lift the San Diego Padres to a 6-2 victory over Pittsburgh on Friday night, snapping the Pirates' season-high seven-game winning streak.

Indiana Fever guard Shavonte Zellous finally won her arbitration case against her former Turkish club, Galatasary.

Zellous was awarded over $200,000 in back pay and bonuses by an arbitrator assigned by the international basketball federation this past week. It took about eight months for the case to be decided.

OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) — Sonny Gray pitched eight innings for his sixth win of the season, Stephen Vogt drove in two runs and the Oakland Athletics beat the New York Yankees 6-2 on Friday night.
