DETROIT (AP) — The Detroit Red Wings have avoided arbitration and signed defenseman Danny DeKeyser to a $30 million, six-year contract.

DUBLIN (AP) — JT McNamara, an Irish jockey who was paralyzed following a fall at the Cheltenham Festival in 2013, has died. He was 41.

McNamara's death was announced by The Irish Turf Club, which didn't provide a cause.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Florida center Gorjok Gak will not be eligible to play as a freshman next season.

TORONTO (AP) — The Toronto Blue Jays have acquired outfielder Melvin Upton Jr. from the San Diego Padres.

The Blue Jays also received cash from San Diego. In return, the Padres get minor league right-hander Hansel Rodriguez.

ANDERSON, Ind. (AP) — Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck says he is entering training camp 100 percent healthy.

FLOWERY BRANCH, Ga. (AP) — The Atlanta Falcons have released star return specialist Devin Hester before the opening of training camp.

Hester is a three-time All-Pro who set an NFL record with 20 career returns for touchdowns.

A turf toe injury knocked out most of his season in 2015. He had 269 total return yards during the last five games of the year. The injury prevented him from full participation in offseason workouts.
