EL SEGUNDO, Calif. (AP) — Brian Shaw, Jesse Mermuys and Mark Madsen will be new coach Luke Walton's assistants with the Los Angeles Lakers.

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) — The Arizona Coyotes have signed free-agent forward Jamie McGinn to a three-year contract.

Terms of the deal announced Friday were not disclosed.

The 27-year-old McGinn had a career-high 22 goals and 17 assists with the Buffalo Sabres and Anaheim Ducks last season.

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — The New Jersey Devils have signed defenseman Ben Lovejoy to an $8 million, three-year deal.

General manager Ray Shero announced the deal about an hour into the start of the NHL free agency period.

Lovejoy will count $2.67 million against the salary cap through the 2018-19 season. He'll make $2.5 million next season and in 2017-18 and $2.75 million in the final year of the contract.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — The Carolina Hurricanes have signed forward Viktor Stalberg to a one-year contract worth $1.5 million.

General manager Ron Francis announced the Swede's signing Friday, about 90 minutes after the NHL's free agency period started.

The Boston Bruins have signed center David Backes to a $30 million, five-year deal.

Agent Wade Arnott confirmed the deal Friday less than a half-hour into the start of the free agent period.

Backes will count $6 million against the salary through the 2020-21 NHL season.

NEW YORK (AP) — O.J. Mayo has been dismissed and disqualified from the NBA for violating the terms of the league's anti-drug program.

The NBA said Friday the No. 3 overall pick in the 2008 draft out of USC is eligible to apply for reinstatement in two years.
