NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Women's basketball came away a winner Sunday night. After a season-long buildup, the NCAA tournament will be decided by the perfect championship game.

The undefeated titans of the sport this season will meet Tuesday night in an historic championship game when UConn plays Notre Dame. It will mark the first time in NCAA basketball history that unbeaten teams will play for a title when the former Big East rivals face each other.

AUGUSTA, Ga. (AP) — A look at some of the anniversaries this year at the Masters:

75 years ago (1939): Ralph Guldahl technically became the first winner of The Masters because the name of the tournament was changed in 1939 from the Augusta National Invitation Tournament. The opening round was postponed by rain, leading to a 36-hole Sunday. Guldahl, a runner-up at Augusta each of the previous two years, had a 33 on the back nine and closed with a 69 for a one-shot win...

RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. (AP) — Lexi Thompson took a lot of the drama out of the final round of the Kraft Nabisco Championship. So did Michelle Wie.

The Sunday showdown the LPGA Tour hoped for in the first major championship of the year fizzled on the front nine when the aggressive Thompson overpowered the cautious Wie.

Thompson went after it from the start at Mission Hills, smashing driver on every hole she could. Wie reined in her considerable power,...

MIAMI (AP) — The NBA playoffs are coming. So much for predictability.

Commence with the weirdness.

Like Indiana pulling its starters halfway through the first quarter in an embarrassing home loss. Or J.R. Smith trying an NBA-record 22 3-pointers in a loss that probably doomed New York's playoff hopes. Or Carmelo Anthony being either unable or unwilling to shoot in the fourth quarter of that game. Or Houston scoring 47 points in the second quarter...

Francisco Rodriguez has two saves, Jose Valverde has one — and no, this isn't a flashback to 2009.

It's just another weird week on the early-season carousel of closers.

The fickle nature of relief pitching is on full display again this April, with the Milwaukee Brewers and New York Mets among several teams scrambling in the late innings.

"Definitely it was a surprise," Rodriguez said after his opening day save for Milwaukee. "...

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Connecticut's latest national championship game will be very different from the previous eight the Huskies have played — and won.

They won't necessarily be the most dominant team on the court. And unlike four times previously, the Huskies won't be the only undefeated in search of the title. UConn will square off against a Notre Dame squad on Tuesday night that won't be intimidated by the name of the front of the Huskies' jerseys....

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Notre Dame's Muffet McGraw has deflected talk of a perfect season and a potential showdown with rival Connecticut all year long.

Now the undefeated Irish will get a crack at their rival when the teams meet for a national championship on Tuesday night.

The former Big East teams had developed the top rivalry in the sport. The Irish have won seven of the previous nine meetings, including beating the Huskies twice in the Final...

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Ryan Boatright plays defense like a personal-space-invading bully, getting into his opponent's chest, bumping him around, chopping at his arms, tangling up his feet.

It can be uncomfortable, infuriating, definitely disruptive — and that's just the way the UConn junior guard likes it.

"I know going into the game if I can make him uncomfortable and irritate him, to any point, or get him fatigued, it's going to lead to mistakes...
