DALLAS (AP) — J.J. Barea is returning to Dallas after considering a move to Miami in free agency.

A person with knowledge of the deal tells The Associated Press that Barea has agreed to terms with the Mavericks. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because players can't sign contracts until Thursday.

The deal is reportedly for two years and $5.6 million. Barea told a newspaper in Puerto Rico that he was rejoining Dallas.

South Carolina has ended Tennessee's 11-year run atop the attendance standings in women's basketball.

The Gamecocks averaged 12,293 fans this season at home, the most in the country. The Lady Vols were second with 10,375. South Carolina jumped nearly 6,000 fans per game this season.

This was the first time since 1994 that neither Tennessee nor UConn was No. 1 in attendance. The national champion Huskies were sixth this season, averaging 8,216 fans....

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) — Illinois has announced a schedule for its men's basketball team that includes two in-state schools for its games this November in Springfield.

The Illini will play four regular-season games and an exhibition at Springfield's Prairie Capital Convention Center this fall while renovation work is completed at the State Farm Center on campus.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman and leadoff hitter Josh Harrison was placed on the 15-day disabled list Monday with a left thumb injury.

Harrison jammed his thumb Sunday while stealing a base in the seventh inning of a win over the Cleveland Indians. He is scheduled to undergo testing to see if there is any structural damage and also to determine a timetable for his return.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Royals placed third baseman Mike Moustakas on the bereavement list and recalled infielder Cheslor Cuthbert from Triple-A Omaha before opening a four-game series against Tampa Bay on Monday night.

The 5-2 victory Sunday gave the Americans a record third title.
