ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) — UFC light heavyweight champion Jon "Bones" Jones has made his first court appearance in connection with a hit-and-run that police say left a pregnant woman with a broken arm.

Jones appeared in an Albuquerque court with his lawyer Tuesday and left without speaking to reporters. He is facing a felony charge of leaving the scene of an accident involving death or personal injuries.

Jones was released Monday on a $2,500 bond....

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) — New York Islanders defenseman Travis Hamonic says he sustained a torn left knee ligament that forced him to miss the team's first-round playoff series against Washington.

Hamonic revealed the nature of the injury while cleaning out his locker on Tuesday, a day after the Islanders were eliminated in a 2-1 loss in Game 7. The injury did not require surgery.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — Butler coach Chris Holtmann has hired Ryan Pedon to his coaching staff.

The former Illinois assistant replaces Emerson Kampen, a former Bulldogs player who was promoted from grad assistant to a full-time job last season after Holtmann took over as interim coach for the ill Brandon Miller. Kampen will remain on staff as a basketball analyst.

VICTORIA, British Columbia (AP) — Longtime Canadian swim coach Randy Bennett has died at 51.

Swimming Canada, the sport's domestic governing body, says he died Monday night. Bennett recently was diagnosed with skin cancer.

Bennett was the national coach at the 2012 London Olympics and has coached Canada's top senior teams at every major international competition since 2009.

CINCINNATI (AP) — Quinten Rollins is going from college point guard to NFL defensive back in only one year.

The Miami of Ohio basketball star decided to play football as a fifth-year senior. He hadn't played the sport since high school, when he was primarily a running back. He quickly caught on as a cornerback.

CINCINNATI (AP) — The Reds are considering surgery for Homer Bailey's pitching elbow, a significant setback to a team already struggling with its staff.

Bailey was limited in spring training while still recovering from surgery on the forearm near the right elbow. He made two starts and developed soreness in the elbow. An MRI on Monday found a sprained ligament.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Chiefs and team president Mark Donovan have agreed to a contract extension.

Terms of the deal, announced Tuesday, were not disclosed.

CINCINNATI (AP) — The Bengals picked up the options for cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick and guard Kevin Zeitler on Tuesday, leaving them under contract through 2016.

Both players were first-round draft picks in 2012. They had four-year deals with fifth-year options.
