RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Canoeists at an Olympic test event complained Friday about the polluted water at the venue but were most outspoken about aquatic plants that tangled with their oars and rudders.

German canoeist Franziska Weber calls the floating weeds "unfair." She says "we work four years for this moment, and to lose then because of plants. It's hard."

She described the water color as "red and brown. It's not the typical water color."...

HOUSTON (AP) — The Houston Astros have activated outfielder George Springer from the 15-day disabled list.

Springer has been out with a right wrist fracture since July 2, a day after he was hit by a pitch against the Royals. At the time he was hitting .264 with 14 doubles, 13 home runs, 29 RBIs and 14 stolen bases in 75 games.

The Astros lead the AL West, but the gap has shrunk to two games over the Texas Rangers entering Friday's games....

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The Atlanta Falcons have traded with the Titans for veteran guard Andy Levitre in exchange for a sixth-round pick in 2016 and a conditional pick in a future year.

The Titans announced the deal Friday.

Tennessee gave the 6-foot-2, 303-pound Levitre a six-year, $46.8 million contract in March 2013. Levitre has started all 96 games in his six seasons.

Levitre, however, was benched for Byron Bell for the last...

MILAN (AP) — Dragged down by fan violence and match-fixing in recent seasons, Italy's Serie B is introducing virtual green cards to award instances of fair play on the pitch.

League president Andrea Abodi tells The Associated Press, "We need to provide good examples — because clearly they're lacking lately."

The cards won't be handed out during matches, as that would alter the rules of the game. Instead, the referee and assistants will decide after...

FOXBOROUGH, Mass. (AP) — Like every game, Patriots coach Bill Belichick says he's focused on his next opponent. But he doesn't feel like he's got a new edge with star quarterback Tom Brady able to play in the season opener against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Asked Friday how it felt to have Brady back with his four-game "Deflategate" suspension erased, Belichick told reporters: "He never left."

Brady certainly factored into his team's celebration plans...

TORONTO (AP) — Toronto FC midfielder Collen Warner and Montreal defender Victor Cabrera have received suspensions for violent play.

The MLS disciplinary committee on Friday suspended Warner two games and fined him for violent conduct after taking down Dominic Oduro in Toronto's 2-1 win last Saturday.

Oduro had dribbled past a prone Benoit Cheyrou, prompting Warner — seemingly upset that the referee had not stopped play to allow treatment for his...

The people spoke on the condition of anonymity Friday because the Bills have not released a list of players they have cut.

NFL.com first reported the move.

The Bills claimed...
