CLEVELAND (AP) — The Cavaliers have set an NBA record by making 18 3-pointers in the first half of Game 2 against Atlanta on Wednesday night.

Led by J.R. Smith's six 3-pointers, the Cavs went 18 of 27 in a dizzying first 24 minutes. The Cavs broke the postseason record of 12 3-pointers in a half set by Golden State on April 26.

Cleveland also bettered the mark for any half — regular or postseason — of 15 3s set by Golden State twice this year....

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) — Duke and Cincinnati, 2016 NCAA Tournament teams, highlight the eight-team field for the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame Tip-Off Tournament.

FRISCO, Texas (AP) — The new headquarters of the Dallas Cowboys will have a re-creation of the team's ring of honor that will include cleat prints of Roger Staubach and Drew Pearson 50 yards apart — the length of their famous touchdown play in a 1975 playoff game.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Michigan has hired assistant basketball coaches Billy Donlon and Saddi Washington.

Wolverines coach John Beilein announced the moves Wednesday.

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) — NCAA champion Villanova will play Notre Dame and Pittsburgh faces Penn State in the inaugural Never Forget Tribute Classic at Prudential Center on Dec. 10.

CLEVELAND (AP) — Corey Kluber pitched a five-hit shutout and the Cleveland Indians used a four-run fourth inning to defeat the Detroit Tigers for the fifth straight time this season, 4-0 on Wednesday night.

NEW YORK (AP) — Washington's Alex Ovechkin, the New York Islanders' John Tavares and Nashville's Shea Weber are the finalists for the Mark Messier NHL Leadership Award.

Messier selected the finalists Wednesday and will pick the winner. The winner will be announced June 22 during the NHL Awards in Las Vegas.

Ovechkin, Tavares and Weber are team captains.
