ALLEN PARK, Mich. (AP) — The Detroit Lions have signed tackle Lamar Holmes.

The team announced the deal Friday but did not provide contract terms. Holmes played for the Atlanta Falcons previously but has not appeared in a game since the 2014 season. He started 15 games in 2013.

Holmes was waived by the Falcons in December. Foot problems have hampered his progress throughout his career, and he broke his right foot last June.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — The Milwaukee Brewers have traded power-hitting outfielder Khris Davis to the Oakland Athletics for a pair of prospects.

Milwaukee acquired catcher Jacob Nottingham and right-handed pitcher Bubby Derby in the deal Friday. The A's and Brewers each won only 68 games last year.

The 28-year-old Davis hit 27 home runs last season, 10th-most in the National League. He batted .247 with 66 RBIs in 121 games.

A 29-year-old right-hander, Hunter was 4-2 with a 4.18 ERA in 58 relief appearances for Baltimore and the Chicago Cubs, who acquired him on July 31 for outfielder Junior Lake.

NEW YORK (AP) — Closer Aroldis Chapman and the New York Yankees have agreed to a one-year contract worth $11,325,000, avoiding salary arbitration.

Acquired from Cincinnati in December, Chapman had asked for $13.1 million and had been offered $9 million when the sides exchanged figures last month. The agreement Friday was $275,000 above the midpoint.

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — The contracts of defensive end Quinton Coples and cornerback Brice McCain have been terminated by the Miami Dolphins, saving the team about $10 million in salary cap space.

Coples, a former first-round draft pick, was acquired off waivers from the New York Jets in November and played in six games as a reserve. McCain, a seven-year veteran, spent one season with Miami and started 11 games in 2015.
