BOSTON (AP) — The Baltimore Orioles put second baseman Jonathan Schoop on the 15-day disabled list Saturday because of a sprained right knee.

Schoop said he got hurt when he tripped over first base in Friday night's game at Boston. He said a late, hard slide by Pablo Sandoval wasn't the cause of his injury.

NEW YORK (AP) — La Verdad defended her title in the $190,000 Distaff Handicap, easily dispatching three rivals Saturday in her season debut at Aqueduct.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. (AP) — Carlton Agudosi had seven catches for 96 yards in Rutgers' 101-play scrimmage Saturday after making four receptions for 96 yards in last week's scrimmage.

After five catches for 32 yards last season, and five catches for 79 yards in 2013, Agudosi is in line to have a much more significant role in the offense.

ST. LOUIS (AP) — Cardinals left fielder Matt Holliday left Saturday's game against Cincinnati in the bottom of the first inning because of tightness in his back.

Holliday doubled and scored before leaving. He has hit safely in all 10 games for St. Louis this season, and his double was his first extra-base hit. He is batting .363.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — Los Angeles Kings center Jarret Stoll was released from jail Friday night after his arrest for suspected cocaine possession at a Las Vegas resort.

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. (AP) — Two-time Masters champion Tom Watson says his next visit to play Augusta National might be his last.

MESA, Ariz. (AP) — Ryan Lochte has topped Michael Phelps with the fastest qualifying time for the 200-meter individual medley at an Arizona meet.

Lochte was timed in 2 minutes, 1.03 seconds Saturday to lead eight qualifiers into the evening final.
