VYSOKY UJEZD, Czech Republic (AP) — Thomas Pieters of Belgium shot a 7-under 65 on Saturday to take a one-stroke lead after the third round of the Czech Masters.

Pieters began the round one shot behind overnight leaders Matthew Fitzpatrick and Pelle Edberg but made an eagle on the par-5 first hole and continued with four birdies on the next nine.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — California's major league sports clubs and a leading raffle vendor are lobbying state lawmakers for the exclusive right to conduct charitable gambling at sporting events.

These raffles that pay out half the proceeds as prize money are gaining popularity across the nation. But California law caps charity prizes. Currently, up to 10 percent of proceeds can go to winners while 90 percent goes to charity.

MURCIA, Spain (AP) — A rider in the Spanish Vuelta has been taken to hospital after an accident during Saturday's eighth stage with several others injured.

Belgian cyclist Kris Boeckmans appeared to be the worst off from the pileup that split the peloton with 50 kilometers (31 miles) to go in the southern province of Murcia.

Spanish television showed images of Boeckmans prone on the ground and being attended to by medical staff.
