ARCADIA, Calif. (AP) — Bolo won the $65,000 feature by 2 3/4 lengths Friday at Santa Anita in his first race since finishing 12th in the Kentucky Derby on May 2.

Ridden by Rafael Bejarano, Bolo ran 1 1/8 miles on turf in 1:49.48 and paid $2.40, $2.20 and $2.10 as the 1-5 favorite.

BRADENTON, Fla. (AP) — Illinois' Thomas Detry shot 4-under 68 for a share of the individual lead and the Illini topped the team standings Friday after the first round of the NCAA tournament.

SEATTLE (AP) — Left-hander James Paxton became a second key member of the Seattle Mariners' rotation to be placed on the disabled list, joining righty Hisashi Iwakuma.

The Mariners put Paxton on the 15-day disabled list on Friday with a strained middle finger tendon on his throwing hand. He felt it after 2-0 pitch to Brandon Moss in the fifth inning Thursday and was immediately removed.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Philadelphia's Cody Asche singled through a shift to end Colorado right-hander Chad Bettis' bid for a no-hitter with one out in the eighth inning Friday night.

Bettis lost a perfect game in the seventh when shortstop Troy Tulowitzki made an error on Ben Revere's grounder up the middle. Colorado center fielder Charlie Blackmon made a sliding catch to rob Freddy Galvis of a hit after Revere's grounder went through Tulowitzki's legs.

DOVER, Del. (AP) — Tyler Reddick took the lead with seven laps left and held on to win the Camping World Truck Series race Friday night at Dover International Speedway.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Texas Rangers announced Friday they will purchase the contract of right-hander Alex "Chi Chi" Gonzalez on Saturday, and he is scheduled to make his Major League debut that night, starting against the Boston Red Sox.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (AP) — Michigan basketball has signed 6-foot-10 German forward Moritz Wagner to a letter of intent.
