COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Mike Grella chipped in the decisive goal from long distance in the 67th minute and the New York Red Bulls beat the Columbus Crew 2-1 on Saturday night.
Bradley Wright-Phillips set up Grella's goal by blocking the ball into an open space just outside the 18-yard box. It was Grella's first touch after entering the game as a substitute and the 1,000th MLS goal for the Red Bulls (2-0-1) franchise.
RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — Eric Staal and Justin Faulk scored in the third period, and Carolina beat New Jersey 3-1 on Saturday night.

SPOKANE, Wash. (AP) — Cierra Burdick scored 22, including four late free throws for the winning points, as Tennessee beat Gonzaga 73-69 in overtime on Saturday to advance to the Spokane Regional final of the NCAA Tournament.
Burdick added 15 rebounds and Ariel Massengale scored 16 points for Tennessee (30-5), which overcome poor shooting and a 17-point deficit for the win.
