KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Royals have placed third baseman Mike Moustakas on the 15-day disabled list Thursday with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

Such injuries usually sideline a player for a long period.

NEW YORK (AP) — Major League Baseball says the San Diego Padres did not act with "malicious intentions" in mishandling the national anthem that was supposed to be sung by the San Diego Gay Men's Chorus.

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Clemson has added former Valparaiso forward David Skara to its roster.

Tigers coach Brad Brownell announced the signing on Thursday. Skara, a 6-foot-8 sophomore, played the past two seasons at Valparaiso. He will have two years of eligibility at Clemson after sitting out next season due to NCAA transfer rules.

A person with knowledge of the negotiations says Miami Heat assistant David Fizdale has accepted the Memphis Grizzlies' offer to be their new head coach.

The person says Fizdale as accepted the offer after he met with Grizzlies controlling owner Robert Pera on Wednesday in California. The person spoke to The Associated Press on condition of anonymity because the Grizzlies have not commented on the negotiations.
