RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Mike London has resigned as the football coach at Virginia after six seasons.

Athletic director Craig Littlepage says in a release from the school that he met with London on Sunday morning and both agreed that a change was in the best interest of the program.

RALEIGH, N.C. (AP) — A reserve football player for North Carolina has been arrested on an assault charge hours after the Tar Heels beat North Carolina State.

Police in Raleigh say cornerback Tyreece Jiles got into a fight with an employee at a nightclub near downtown at about 2 a.m. Sunday. He was charged with simple assault and released from jail on a $1,200 bond. He is due in court Monday.
