SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — The Utah Jazz have signed Bryce Cotton and Jerrelle Benimon to 10-day contracts.

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. (AP) — Jake Odorizzi pitched one scoreless inning in his spring debut and newcomer Steven Souza had a RBI single to help the Tampa Bay Rays beat the Minnesota Twins 2-1 on Friday.

WINNIPEG, Manitoba (AP) — The Winnipeg Jets will be without defenseman Dustin Byfuglien for two to four weeks because of an upper-body injury.

Byfuglien left during the second period of a 3-1 loss to Ottawa on Wednesday. He appeared to be favoring his right arm.

SEDONA, Ariz. (AP) — Ed "Big Mo" Modzelewski (Mo-juh-LESS-key), a former star fullback who led the University of Maryland to an unbeaten season in 1951 and later won an NFL championship with the Cleveland Browns, has died. He was 86.

Services are pending at Greer's Funeral Home in Sedona, Arizona, for Modzelewski, who died Saturday.

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Forward Chris Johnson is returning to the NBA after signing a 10-day contract on Friday with the Milwaukee Bucks following brief stints with two other teams this season.

The 24-year-old Johnson most recently played for Rio Grande in the NBA Development League, where he averaged 20.1 points and 5.6 rebounds in 17 games. The 6-foot-6 Johnson began the season in the NBA with Philadelphia, where he played nine games before being waived Nov. 15....
