MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — The Minnesota Twins have returned right-hander Casey Fien from his rehab assignment for a strained right shoulder and removed him from the disabled list.

The move was made before the game Friday against the Toronto Blue Jays, and right-hander Michael Tonkin was sent to Triple-A Rochester to make room for Fien in the bullpen.

DOVER, Del. (AP) — Denny Hamlin turned a lap of 160.121 mph Friday at Dover International Speedway to win his first pole of the season.

Hamlin won the Dover pole for the third time in the last six races.

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Phillies have called up Cody Asche from Triple-A Lehigh Valley and will give the former third baseman his first career start in left field against Colorado on Friday night.

Veteran outfielder Grady Sizemore was designated for assignment to make room for Asche. Sizemore batted .245 (24 for 98) with six RBIs.

DESTIN, Fla. (AP) — The Southeastern Conference has adopted a rule prohibiting its schools from enrolling student-athletes with "serious misconduct" issues at previous colleges.

Call it the Jonathan Taylor statue.

The league defined serious misconduct as "sexual assault, domestic violence or other forms of sexual violence."

No other conference has a similar conduct rule.

ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) — The Orlando Magic have hired former player Scott Skiles as their next head coach.

General manager Rob Hennigan announced the hiring Friday. An introductory news conference was set for later in the day. The 51-year-old Skiles becomes the 12th coach in franchise history. He follows Jacque Vaughn, who was fired in February.
