LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) — Chicago Bears chairman George McCaskey says he has repeatedly second-guessed his decision to approve the Ray McDonald signing and asked himself what he could have done differently.

WARSAW, Poland (AP) — UEFA says the election scheduled Friday to elect FIFA's president should be postponed and that it will consider boycotting this week's FIFA congress following the arrests of soccer officials in Zurich.

UEFA general secretary Gianni Infantino says the corruption investigations into FIFA "tarnish the image of football as a whole" and said European football associations will debate on Thursday whether to boycott the Zurich congress.

NEW YORK (AP) — The Angels have acquired outfielder Kirk Nieuwenhuis from the New York Mets for cash considerations.

The 27-year-old Nieuwenhuis had appeared in 27 games with six starts this season, going 3 for 38, an .079 average. A former third-round draft pick, Nieuwenhuis has played in parts of four seasons in the majors, batting .230 with 13 home runs, 31 doubles, three triples and 60 RBIs. He was designated for assignment May 19.

PITTSBURGH (AP) — DeAngelo Williams is ready to begin the second act of his NFL career in Pittsburgh.

The longtime Carolina Panthers running back signed a two-year deal to join the Steelers in March. While the 32-year-old Williams is Carolina's all-time leading rusher he understands he will serve as a backup to All-Pro Le'Veon Bell in Pittsburgh.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. (AP) — Defensive end Antonio Smith is absent from the Denver Broncos' organized team activities while prosecutors in Texas investigate a criminal sexual complaint against him.

Smith met with general manager John Elway, team president and CEO Joe Ellis and coach Gary Kubiak and they all agreed it was best for Smith to skip the voluntary workouts that began Wednesday.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — The latest Academic Progress Rate results released Wednesday by the NCAA show athletes continue to improve their classroom performance even in two sports that have traditionally lagged.

This year's overall four-year average of 978 is up two points from last year's record high.

Men's basketball came in at 961, a four-point jump over 2013-14. Football had a 956, a five-point increase in one year.
