NORMAL, Ill. (AP) — Illinois State will follow up on the most successful football season in school history with a road-heavy early schedule this fall.

The Redbirds will open Sept. 5 at Iowa and play four of their first six games on the road. The only home games over that stretch will be Sept. 12 against Morgan State and the Oct. 3 Missouri Valley Football Conference opener against Northern Iowa.

LAUSANNE, Switzerland (AP) — IOC President Thomas Bach will receive a total of 225,000 euros ($242,000) a year in compensation to cover the costs related to his job of leading the Olympic body.

The figure was disclosed Thursday as the International Olympic Committee released its "indemnity policy" covering the allowances and per diems for Bach and other members.

IOC presidents and members do not receive a salary, but their travel and housing costs...

MOSCOW (AP) — The Russian Anti-Doping Agency says bobsledder Denis Moiseichenkov has been banned for 2 ½ years after testing positive for a banned substance.

Moiseichenkov failed a test at the Russian championships in October in Sochi, where he and pilot Evgeny Pashkov won their first national two-man bobsled title.

His ban was handed down by the Russian Bobsled Federation and is backdated to Nov. 12, the agency said. It did not specify which banned...

FALL RIVER, Mass. (AP) — Prosecutors are expected to rest in the murder trial of former New England Patriots player Aaron Hernandez.

Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to murder in the 2013 killing of Odin Lloyd, who was dating his fiancée's sister. Lloyd was killed less than a mile from Hernandez's home.

NEW YORK (AP) — In need of another healthy infielder by opening day, the New York Yankees have acquired Gregorio Petit from the Houston Astros for cash.

The teams announced the deal Wednesday night. New York says Petit will report to major league camp.

Petit batted .278 with two homers and nine RBIs in 37 games with the Astros last season. He played in 85 games for Triple-A Oklahoma City, hitting .297 with 10 home runs and 43 RBIs....

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) — Scott Hannan and Chris Tierney scored goals to help the San Jose Sharks keep their slim playoff hopes alive with a 5-1 victory over the Colorado Avalanche on Wednesday night.

NEW YORK (AP) — The giant letters that spelled "Yankee Stadium" atop the original Bronx ballpark failed to find a buyer at an auction in New York.

They were estimated to fetch between $300,000 and $600,000 at Sotheby's Wednesday night.
