HOUSTON (AP) — Houston Texans coach Bill O'Brien's goal is to have outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney practicing on Aug. 17.

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The Texas Rangers have placed right-handed setup man Tanner Scheppers on the 15-day disabled list with left knee inflammation and recalled right-hander Phil Klein from Triple-A Round Rock.

RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — The International Olympic Committee said Sunday it will begin testing for disease causing viruses in the sewage-polluted waters where athletes will compete in next year's Rio de Janeiro Games.

TORONTO (AP) — Goaltender Jonathan Bernier and the Toronto Maple Leafs have agreed to a two-year contract worth $8.3 million.

RENTON, Wash. (AP) — The Seattle Seahawks have released veteran defensive tackle Tony McDaniel to save salary cap space after signing quarterback Russell Wilson and linebacker Bobby Wagner to contract extensions.

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Pro Bowl left tackle Branden Albert of the Miami Dolphins is showing progress in his return from major knee surgery.
