David Lanning (November 18, 1936 – April 25, 2014)

David Allen Lanning, 77, of Zanesville, died at 8:52 A.M. on Friday, April 25, 2014, at Genesis Hospice- Morrison House. He was born November 18, 1936, in Zanesville, a son of the late Lawrence and Goldie Irene White Lanning. He was a United States Army Veteran, and retired from Brockway Glass after 35 years. David enjoyed fishing and the outdoors, and was a member of Bass Masters and the NRA.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Karen Best Lanning, whom he married July 10, 1959; two daughters, Joni Linn of Toboso and Kris (Ron Henderson) King of Zanesville; four grandchildren, Darcey (Troy) Atkinson, Garrison (Holly) Sarchet, Michael Linn, and Morgan Linn; four great grandchildren, Addisyn and Ainsley Atkinson, and Heidi and Wyatt Sarchet; two sisters, Donna Dennis and Ruth Ann (Roger) Smith; two brothers, Lawrence (Jean) Lanning and Tom (Mary) Lanning; several nieces and nephews; two bass fishing buddies, Steve Ater and Gary Fisher; and a sister-in-law Marilyn Price.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother Leslie Lanning; two sisters, June and Clara; and a son-in-law Michael Linn.

Friends and family may call from 2:00-4:00 P.M. & 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Monday, April 28, 2014, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Tuesday, April 29, 2014, with Pastor Dean Cole officiating. He will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville.
