Dorothy K. Ballenger (November 24, 1920 – July 21, 2014)

Dorothy K. Ballenger, 93, of Zanesville, died at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, July 21, 2014, at her home. She was born November 24, 1920, in Cambridge, a daughter of the late Harold and Helen Thompson. She worked as a cook for Zanesville City Schools and in the Good Samaritan Hospital cafeteria, was an avid card player, and was a member of the First Christian Church.

Surviving are a son Robert L. Ballenger of Zanesville; two grandsons, Dirk Arnold of Watertown, WI, and Kenny Ballenger of Ashley, OH; five great grandchildren; three sisters, Gloria, Judy, and Gladys; and a brother George.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Jack A. Ballenger, who died January 29, 1994; a daughter Jackie Arnold; five sisters; and four brothers.

Friends and family may call from 11:00 A.M. until the time of the funeral service at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, July 25, 2014, at the BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE, with Rev. Dawn Remster officiating. She will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville.
