Bradshaw has 23; Belmont races past Tennessee St. 88-62

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Craig Bradshaw hit 6 of 11 from long range and totaled 23 points as Belmont ran past Tennessee State 88-62 on Saturday.

Belmont (19-10, 11-5), which has won four straight games, leads the Ohio Valley Conference East standings going into the conference tournament set to begin March 4.

Taylor Barnette was also sharp from beyond the arc, making 4 of 8 as Belmont nailed 15 of 32 from distance. Barnette finished with 12 points, Amanze Egekeze chipped in 10 and Evan Bradds added nine with nine rebounds for the Bruins.

Nevada pulls away from San Jose State, 62-51

RENO, Nev. (AP) — AJ West scored 17 points — 13 of which came from the free throw line — and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead Nevada to a 62-51 victory over San Jose State on Saturday, snapping the Wolfpack's three-game losing skid and extending the Spartans' to 18 straight.

It was West's 14th double-double of the season, ranking him second in the Mountain West and 18th in the nation. Tyron Criswell added 15 points and 11 boards for Nevada (9-19, 5-11 Mountain West), which shot only 33.3 percent from the field but hit 34 of 47 at the free throw line.

Dartmouth leads early, beats Cornell 56-45

ITHACA, N.Y. (AP) — Alex Mitola and Malik Gill combined for 28 points and Dartmouth beat Cornell 56-45 on Saturday for its third straight victory.

Mitola and Gill each scored 14 points and Gabas Maldunas added 13 for the Big Green (12-14, 5-7 Ivy League), who out-boarded Cornell 34-19.

Shonn Miller scored for a 12-10 Big Red lead with 10:23 left before the break, but they didn't make another field goal, converting just 2 of 4 free throws for a 26-14 halftime score.

Old Dominion overtakes North Texas in 70-57 win

DENTON, Texas (AP) — Trey Freeman scored 24 points on 9-for-16 shooting and fueled the go-ahead run to lead Old Dominion to a 70-57 win over North Texas on Saturday.

Aaron Bacote added 16 points and Richard Ross pulled down eight rebounds as ODU (22-6, 11-5 Conference USA) controlled the boards 36-24 to extend its win streak to four and get the season sweep. The Monarchs hit 23 of 49 from the field (46.9 percent) and had six fewer turnovers.

Johnson's career-best 28 leads South Carolina to 81-68 win

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Tyrone Johnson scored a career-high 28 points to lead South Carolina to an 81-68 win over Mississippi State on Saturday night.

The Gamecocks (14-14, 5-11 Southeastern Conference) led for the final 37 minutes to break a two-game losing streak and climb into 11th place in the SEC.

Mississippi State trailed by four with 17 minutes to go, but Laimonas Chatkevicius hit seven of the next eight points to put South Carolina ahead 52-38 with 15 minutes left. The Gamecocks would lead by at least nine the rest of the way.

Bruins win 4-1, send Coyotes to 9th straight loss

BOSTON (AP) — Milan Lucic, Patrice Bergeron, Brad Marchand each had a goal and an assist, helping the Boston Bruins send the Arizona Coyotes to their ninth straight loss, 4-1 on Saturday night.

Zdeno Chara added a power-play goal and an assist for the Bruins, who won for the third time in four games following a six-game losing streak (0-4-2).

Tuukka Rask made 31 saves for Boston after missing Friday's win in New Jersey because he was sick.

Miller's 20 help No. 14 Princeton women beat Brown 79-67

PRINCETON, N.J. (AP) — Michelle Miller had 20 points off the bench and No. 14 Princeton moved within a win of the all-time Ivy League record for best starts ever with a 79-67 win over Brown on Saturday night.

Blake Dietrick scored 15 points and Alex Wheatley had 12 for the Tigers (27-0, 11-0), who are the only remaining undefeated Division I women's team. They are one win shy of matching the 1970-71 Penn men's team 28-0 start.

Florida beats Tennessee 66-49, Donovan gets win No. 500

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Dorian Finney-Smith had 20 points and 10 rebounds in his first game back from suspension, and Florida beat Tennessee 66-49 Saturday to give coach Billy Donovan his 500th career victory.

Finney-Smith missed the last three games for an undisclosed violation of team rules, and Donovan failed to reach the milestone in two chances on the road.

Texas State stays in hunt, tops Arkansas St. 70-60

SAN MARCOS, Texas (AP) — Kavin Gilder-Tulbury scored 19 points and Texas State kept its Sun Belt Tournament hopes alive with a 70-60 win over Arkansas State Saturday.

The Bobcats (13-14, 7-11) move into a three-team tie for seventh place in the Sun Belt standings with two games left. The top eight teams advance to the conference tournament, which opens March 12. Arkansas State (11-16, 6-12) is a game back, with home games against South Alabama and Louisiana-Lafayette remaining.

McClement scores 2 in Hurricanes' 5-3 win over Islanders

UNIONDALE, N.Y. (AP) — Jay McClement scored twice and Cam Ward made 21 saves as the Carolina Hurricanes beat the New York Islanders 5-3 on Saturday for their third straight win.

McClement tied it 1-1 late in the first period and then scored again midway through the second for his sixth goal. Justin Faulk, Brad Malone and Michal Jordan also netted second-period goals for Carolina, which beat the Islanders for the first time in four meeting this season.
