Indians' Brantley unsure of return from shoulder injury

CLEVELAND (AP) — Indians outfielder Michael Brantley has no timetable for his return from the shoulder injury that has sidelined him for the second time this season.

Brantley spoke to reporters Saturday for the first time since being placed on the 15-day disabled list on May 14. He began the season on the DL following surgery for a torn right labrum in November. Brantley hit .231 with seven RBIs in 11 games before being shut down again.

LONDON (AP) — Hull secured an immediate return to the English Premier League and a minimum $250 million cash bonanza by beating Sheffield Wednesday 1-0 in the League Championship playoff final on Saturday.

Mohamed Diame's goal was worthy of winning soccer's richest single match, the Senegal midfielder collecting the ball 25 meters out and curling a right-footed shot into the top-right corner in the 72nd minute.


Iowa pounds Maryland 11-0

OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — Joel Booker had three hits, including a two-run double, and Robert Neustrom added three hits as Iowa beat Maryland 11-0 to advance to the Big Ten title game.

Shane Ritter and Nick Gallagher combined to toss nine shutout innings for the eighth-seeded Hawkeyes (30-25), who are now just one win away from their first league tournament championship.


Champions League final: Real Madrid, Atletico resume rivalry

MILAN (AP) — Real Madrid and Atletico Madrid are resuming their intense city rivalry in the Champions League final on a hot and humid Saturday evening at San Siro Stadium.

Two years after Real Madrid won a record-extending 10th European title against Atletico, the teams play again for the most coveted trophy in club soccer.

Atletico aims to become European champion for the first time. It was denied by last-minute equalizing goals on both previous trips to the final, first by Bayern Munich in 1974 before being routed in a replay.


Royals activate reliever Young from DL, option Flynn

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Royals have activated right-hander Chris Young from the disabled list before Saturday's game against the Chicago White Sox.

Young, who had been out since May 9 with a right forearm strain, was placed in the bullpen after beginning the season in the rotation. He was 1-5 with a 6.68 ERA in seven starts, allowing 13 home runs and walking 11 in 32 1/3 innings.


Canadians Warner, Theisen-Eaton lead Hypo Meeting on 1st day

GOETZIS, Austria (AP) — Canadian decathlete Damian Warner built a slim 7-point lead over Germany's Kai Kazmirek on the opening day of the Hypo Meeting, while Brianne Theisen-Eaton of Canada led the women's heptathlon after four events.

Warner gathered 4,424 points after winning the opening 100 meters in 10.15 seconds, the fastest time in the 42-year history of the competition. Last year's winner Kazmirek posted a personal best on the 400 to stay close to Warner.


Braves place SS Aybar on DL with bruised foot, recall Blair

ATLANTA (AP) — The Atlanta Braves have placed shortstop Erick Aybar on the 15-day disabled list with a bruised right foot.

Aybar left Friday night's game in the fifth, one inning after he was hit by a pitch from Miami's Adam Conley. The Braves said Friday night that X-rays were negative.

Aybar, acquired as part of the offseason deal that sent shortstop Andrelton Simmons to the Los Angeles Angels, is hitting .182.

Daniel Castro is starting at shortstop in Saturday's game against the Marlins.


Hend eagles No 18 again, takes 1-shot lead at Wentworth

VIRGINIA WATER, England (AP) — Scott Hend of Australia eagled No. 18 for the second straight day to reclaim the lead at the end of a fluctuating third round of the BMW PGA Championship on Saturday, as Masters champion Danny Willett slipped down the leaderboard.

Hend started the day tied for the lead with Willett on 10 under and ended it with a one-stroke advantage on 9 under, but only after an 8-iron approach to 3 feet on the par-5 last saved an otherwise rocky back nine.

Aubrey McClendon's Thunder stake at issue in probate court

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — The roughly 20 percent ownership stake in the Oklahoma City Thunder held by the late Aubrey McClendon has become a concern of his estate's creditors.

The Oklahoman reports (http://bit.ly/1WsrUnr ) that transcripts of a probate court hearing say McClendon's widow, Kathleen McClendon, wants to buy the stake that's worth an estimated $190 million.
