A Wyoming cowboy is snow master for the Pyeongchang Olympics

JEONGSEON, South Korea (AP) — Cattle rancher Tom Johnston is a Wyoming cowboy gone global who's the master of snow for Alpine skiing events at the Pyeongchang Olympics.

Johnston, the chief of race for ski events at the 2018 Olympics, is responsible for preparing the snow to world-class conditions at the next Winter Games.


Paris secures 8m euros in sponsorship deals for Olympic bid

PARIS (AP) — Leaders of the Paris bid for the 2024 Olympics have secured about 8 million euros ($8.9 million) in sponsorship deals with four major French groups.

The bid committee says each of the four new partners — Caisse des Depots, Elior Group, JCDecaux and RATP — will contribute about 2 million euros to the budget.

The announcement, coming on the same day Paris will release its bid logo, follows the signing last month of the bid's first sponsorship deal with France's national lottery, Francaise des Jeux.

Party like it's 1999: Denver to celebrate another Super Bowl

DENVER (AP) — The Denver Broncos will board fire trucks and roll slowly through the crowd-lined streets of the Mile High City to celebrate winning the Super Bowl.

Hundreds of thousands of people are expected for Tuesday's parade and rally after the Broncos defeated the Carolina Panthers 24-10 in Super Bowl 50.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — Malcolm Bernard scored 27 and grabbed a career-best 14 rebounds, while freshman Justin Ravenal hit six 3-pointers and finished with 20 points — both season highs — to help Florida A&M snap a three-game skid and beat Delaware State 96-95 in double overtime Monday night.

Isaiah Omoregie had 15 points, one short of his career high set in Florida A&M's last game — an 81-63 loss to North Carolina Central last Monday. Bernard added six assists and five steals.


Maryland can't catch Ohio State in 94-86 road loss

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Despite a second loss Ohio State this season, Maryland coach Brenda Frese did not sound overly concerned about the direction of her team with a third of the Big Ten season left to go.

"It's February," said Frese, whose team trailed by seven at halftime and as many as 18 in the third quarter. "We've just got to be able to learn from this. I'm proud of the fight we showed in the second half."

Brionna Jones scored 28 points, but it wasn't enough for No. 5 Maryland in a 94-86 loss to seventh-ranked Ohio State on Monday night.


Wilson, Brown pace Alcorn St. to 66-63 win at Grambling St.

GRAMBLING, La. (AP) — Octavious Brown scored 15 points and made four free throws down the stretch as Alcorn State shot 57 percent from the field after halftime and held off Grambling State 66-63 on Monday night.

Tamarico Wilson led Alcorn State (11-12, 8-3 Southwest Athletic Conference) with 20 points on 7-for-11 shooting. Brown opened the game with a jumper and a 3-pointer, then Wilson stepped up with two baskets and a 3 and the Braves took an early 12-4 lead and never trailed.


Franklin, Jackson St. rally for 81-80 win over Southern

JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Chace Franklin scored 20 — including the winning 3-pointer with three seconds left — while Paris Collins and Raeford Worsham each had double-doubles to help Jackson State rally from a 16-point halftime deficit to beat Southern 81-80 Monday night.

Collins had 18 points and a career-high 15 rebounds and Worsham finished with 16 and 10 for Jackson State.

Southern (16-8, 8-3 Southwestern Athletic Conference) led 50-34 at the break.

The Tigers (13-11, 8-3) trimmed their deficit to six with 11 minutes left.


Arkansas-Pine Bluff claws back; beats Alabama St 75-70 in OT

PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP) — Trent Whiting scored 18 points and Arkansas-Pine Bluff clawed back in the second half to beat Alabama State 75-70 in overtime on Monday night.

The Golden Lions (6-19, 4-7 SWAC) trailed 37-27 at halftime and by as many as 18 at one point. But Arkansas Pine-Bluff rallied, outscoring the Hornets by 10 in the second half (39-29) to force an extra period and then 9-4 in OT to seal the win.
