Frances Delores Bucci (February 2, 1922 – June 13, 2014)

Frances Delores Bucci, better known as “Mama Bucciâ€, died at her residence surrounded by her loving family at 3:13pm, June 13, 2014. She was born February 3, 1922, to Vito and Cecilia “Matilda†(Reinholtz) Taormina in Youngstown, Ohio. Frances’ siblings, sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and their spouses are: Lucille and Frank Deramo, Antonettte and Richard Ellashek, Rosemarie and Pete Pernotto, Eleanor DiLullo, Josephine Merlock, Barbara and Charles Scimeca, Joseph and Janet Taormina, Jack and Lu Bucci, Jimmy and Martha Bucci, Arco and Jeri Bucci, and Ann and Larry Keen. Frances married Lawrence Bucci on April 22, 1939, in Schenectady, NY, by Father Anthony Spina. They lived in Youngstown until moving to Zanesville in 1947 to start the Squirt Bottling Company and The Sun Spot Bottling Company on Central Ave. She and her husband established the Enrico Fermi Lodge “Sons of Italy†at 375 Muskingum Avenue, which later became Bucci’s Italian Village, then Mama Bucci’s Pizzeria. Frances was well
known as a great Italian cook. Her first job was working at Adornetto’s Pizzeria. She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church and Daughters of Isabella. Frances and Lawrence had seven children: Larry (Francine Marple) of Florida, Ron (Mary Ann Boyd), Charlene, and Robert (Darlene Eppley) of Zanesville, Anthony of Las Vegas, Richard of Columbus, and Tyrone (deceased); fifteen grandchildren: Gary Bucci, Chad (Cheryl) Bucci, Ronna Bucci (deceased), Holli (Michael) Lambert, Ryan (Nina) Bucci, Sean (Kim) Robinson, Matt (Wendy) Robinson, Allison (Trent) Durant, Slade Bucci, Jason (Julie Holbein) Bucci, Tori (Josh) Hartman, A.J. (Aimee) Bucci, Amanda (Andy Coffee) Bucci, Alex Bucci, and Tyler Bucci; and nineteen great grandchildren: Sutton, Karsten, and Rocco Bucci, Ella and Owen Lambert, Nico and Lucia Bucci, Anna Robinson, Bella and Emma Robinson,
Ava, Ty, and Addy Durant, Weston, Landon, and Peyton Hartman, Declan and Caelyn Bucci, and Claire Coffee.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence, son Tyrone, and granddaughter Ronna Bucci.
Visitation will be held Thursday June 19 from 2pm to 8pm at the Bryan & Snider Funeral home, 2318 Maple Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10am Friday June 20th at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with Fr. Martin Ralko as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
