OBIT FOR:     Maurice E.  Brattain, 90

Maurice E. Brattain , 90 of  Zanesville died at 7:50 AM  Sunday, September 18, 2016 at the Genesis Hospice & Palliative Care.

He was born on June 21, 1926 in Pendleton, Indiana the son of Maurice M. Brattain and  Minnie A. Smith Brattain.

Maurice was an Army Veteran of World War II in Germany from 1944 to 1946. He was proud of being decorated with European, African, Middle East Theatre Ribbon, One Bronze Service Star, a Good Conduct Medal and a World War Victory Medal. He was a member of the VFW, a general farmer, a heavy equipment operator and spent five years as a Sheriff’s Deputy with the Sheriff’s Department in Anderson Indiana. Maurice was also the Marina Manager for the Vero Beach Yacht Club and his pastimes were golfing and flying airplanes.

He is survived by his daughter, Carol Smith of Massachusetts; his brothers, Marvin Brattain of Pendleton, Indiana, Max Brattain of Fisher, Indiana; many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces & nephews. Maurice was preceded in death in addition to his parents by his wife Evelyn A. Parry Brattain, whom he married in 1963 and died September 21, 2003; a daughter Rita Brattain, a sister Sarah Margaret Brattain and two step-children, Judith King Johnson & Emerson James King Jr.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Friday, September23, 2016 at the Bryan & Hardwick Funeral Home beginning with Military honors. Burial will conclude at a later date at the Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery, Anderson, Indiana.
