Alta M. Hanson (Nee: Hambel)

Alta M. Hanson (nee: Hambel), 94, of Zanesville, passed away peacefully into God’s Care, on Friday, September 7, 2012 at Genesis Morrison house.

She was born in Morgan County, April 5, 1918, the daughter of the late Pearl Hambel and Grace Grubb Hambel.
Alta, was an LPN and worked at the Helen Purcell Home and then retired from the County Home after 8 years. She attended the Hosom School and was a member of the Church Of God in Newark.

She is the loving mother of Robert (Nancy) Hanson of Zanesville, Richard (Loretta) Hanson of Tucson, AZ, David (Jane) Hanson of Bradenton, FL, and Danny (Brenda) Hanson of China Grove, NC. Dear sister of Harold (Ruth) Hambel of Midland, OH and Alice Rhinebarger of Zanesville. The Cherished Grandmother of Wayne Lee, Marty, Mike, Marla, Debbe, Lori, Gayle, Angie, Chris, Mark, Jeff, Greg and Kristi, Great-Grandmother of 29 and Great-Great Grandmother of 6. Dear Aunt to many special nieces and nephews. Special friends from Emeritus at the Inn at North Hills, her Church of God family and other beloved friends and neighbors.

In addition to her parents, Alta is preceded in death by her husband Willis P. Hanson who died in 1960. Sisters Florence Smith, Rhea Grundy and Dessie Allman, a brother, John Hambel and her oldest son Wayne Hanson, who passed away September 3, 2012 in New Mexico and her granddaughter Barbara Tillman.
The family wants to thank the staff at Genesis Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.

The family is being served by the BRYAN & SNIDER FUNERAL HOME, 2318 Maple Ave., where visitation will be Tuesday, September 11, 2012 from 5-8 pm. Funeral service will be Wednesday, September 12, at 10 AM at the funeral home with visitation one hour prior to services. Pastor Roger Decker will officiate. The Family will meet for the interment service at 1 PM at Mt. Olivet Methodist Cemetery in Windsor Twp., Ohio.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Alta’s memory to or Genesis Hospice and Palliative Care.
