Bessie O. Masterson

Bessie O. Masterson, 82 of Zanesville formerly of New Lexington died 2:20 AM Monday, February 21, 2011 at Genesis Morrison House Hospice in Zanesville following a long illness.

She was born Tuesday, April 03, 1928 in Pomeroy the daughter of William and Eula (Montgomery) Shumaker.

She was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, a homemaker & was employed as the business manager for Bill Call Ford dealership in Mansfield Ohio and she was also a realtor. While in New Lexington she was president of Delta Theta Tau. Bessie especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by two daughters: Donna (Tren) Brownley of Jacksonville FL and Sarah Tharp of Blacklick; A son Paul D. (Jenni) of Zanesville; five grandchildren , Christopher (Elizabeth) Brownley, Emily, Jillian, Jacob and Mac Masterson; Six brothers and sisters, William Shumaker of Lancaster, Crayton (Arlene) Shumaker of Dresden, Irene McGreevy of Cincinnati, Thelma (Bill) Hunt of St. Augustine FL, Leo (Mary Anne) Shumaker of Melbourne, Florida and Marie (Paul) Karpik of Columbus; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Bessie was preceded in death in addition to her parents by her husband Paul J. Masterson on July 16, 1990 and a sister Mary Tharp.

Visitation to be held from 4 to 7 pm and Christian Vigil at 6:45pm on Wednesday February 23rd at the Hillis & Hardwick Funeral Home, 935 Forest Ave. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 AM on Thursday, February 24, 2011 at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church, 144 North Fifth Street Zanesville with Dominican Fathers as celebrant. Burial will conclude in the New Lexington Cemetery New Lexington OH.

Memorial Contributions can be made to Genesis Morrison House Hospice, 713 Forest Ave. or St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. The family appreciated the kindness of the Hospice and the Church.
