Betty Jean (Romick) Bolton, Zanesville, 84 passed away at 7:40 pm Thursday, December 20, 2012 at Genesis Hospice Morrison House surrounded by her loving family.
Betty was born September 12, 1928, Orange Township, Hancock County, Ohio, the daughter of the late Roy Milton and Hazel Julia (Boutwell) Romick. Betty was a 1946 graduate of Ada High School and a 1949 graduate of Lima Memorial Hospital School of Nursing. She was a housewife and retired nurse and enjoyed her family, farming with her husband, and being outdoors. She was a member of Salem Presbyterian Church, Venedocia, OH, where she was an elder, co-moderator of Women’s Association, and volunteer. She was active in Church Women United; was “Flower in Full Bloom,” representing York Township in the 2003 Peony Parade, Van Wert, OH; and a member of Eastern Star, Van Wert, OH.
Betty is survived by her husband Robert Lowell Bolton, whom she married October 8, 1949; her children: Janice (Duane) Deal, Zanesville, OH; Alice (Steven Lange) Godsey, Springfield, OH; Roger Bolton, deceased; Christena Bolton, Henderson, NV; her grandchildren: Aaron Deal, Falls Church, VA; Andrea Deal, New York, NY; Nichola (Oliver Turner) Bolton, London, UK; Rebecca (Jeffree) Pitts, Bellevue, NE; Melanie (Brian Hogan) Hux, Charlotte, NC; Jacqueline (Theresa Snider) Godsey, Columbus, OH. Great-grandsons Adrian and Grant Pitts; her borhters and sisters Clair (Beverly) Romick, Ada, OH; Norma (Thomas) Merritt, State College, PA; Alice Cheney, New Stark, OH.
In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her son Stephen Bolton; Brothers and sisters Melvin and Merle Romick, Marvel Westcott, Velma Schiltz, Mary Ellen Martin, and Ruth Ann Romick.
A Memorial Service will be held at Salem Presbyterian Church, 15240 Main Street, Venedocia, OH, Saturday, December 22 at 12:00 pm with visitation from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm before the service.
