Betty L. Wilson, 100, of Zanesville, formerly of Ridegwood Circle in Zanesville, passed to heaven at 2:15 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Forest View Health Campus. She was born October 14, 1912 in Meigs Twp., Muskingum County, Cumerland, OH, a daughter of the late William F. and Viola Dyle Drake Jones. Betty was the youngest of ten siblings, seven brothers and two sisters. She was married to George E. Wilson on November 27, 1934 and together they raised three children. They owned and operated various businesses including, Wilsonâ€™s Restaurant on Market Street, Wilsonâ€™s Bakery at Terrace Point, a Tea Room on the East Pike, and several businesses related to her husbandâ€™s family home building companies. Betty was an active member of the Central Presbyterian Church for many years, serving on various committees and fundraising events. In her later years she most enjoyed spending time with and entertaining her family and friends, playing her organ, bowling, gardening, traveling and helping others.
Surviving are two loving daughters, Janet Lang of St. Clairsville and Phyllis Ann White of Canton; a daughter-in-law, Mary Lou Wilson Lord of Zanesville and Naples Florida, numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews whom she cherished and blessed.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 50 years, George Wilson; her beloved son, Edward L. Wilson who died in October of 2006; two sisters; seven brothers and two devoted sons-in-law William Lang and Willard E. White.
Friends may call from noon till the time of service at 1:00 p.m on Thursday, May 9, 2013 with Rev. Ray C. Morrison, Jr. officiating at Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville, Oh 43701. Following the service, Betty will be laid to rest at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Forest View Health Campus, 2991 Maple Avenue, Zanesville, Oh 43701 where she received endearing and loving care for many years.
