Cloyd Dale Thompson 80, of Zanesville Ohio went to walk the streets of gold with his Savior and Lord, Jesus Christ on Saturday November 6th,2010 at Good Samaritan Hospital surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born Sunday, April 13, 1930 in Cambridge, Ohio to Laura Musgrave Thompson and Clarence Thompson. Cloyd had a passion for fixing things and being outdoors, but most of all he loved spending time with his wife Ruth. He proudly served our country in the Korean War from 1952-1954. On October 7th 1955 he married his wife Ruth Milstead Thompson. Cloyd worked for the Greiner Dairy for several years and retired from Franklin Local School District as a custodian where he had many dear friends, along with his many dear friends at evergreen village where they lived in New Concord before moving back to Zanesville. Cloyd was a member of the Washington Twp. Baptist Church, VFW Post #1058 and The American Legion.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Ruth Milstead Thompson, a brother, Bernard Thompson, son, Randy (Dixie) Thompson, daughter Karen (Gary) Jacolenne, three Grandchildren; Chad Jacolenne, Laura Jacolenne (Cody Evans), and Tia Thompson, two Step-Grandchildren, Jay and Rance Noce and families. He had several nieces and nephews and a very special niece Debra Corns and a special nephew Charles Grubb. And a very special dog, Toby. Preceding him in death were his Mother, Laura Musgrave Thompson, brotherâ€™s Eugene and Leland and a sister Pauline Grubb.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, November 9, 2010 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 W. Military Rd., Zanesville, Oh 43701. . Funeral services will be held at 11am on Wednesday in The Snouffer Chapel with Pastor Chris Riggs officiating. George Selsam will conduct Military Honors at the Funeral Home .
