Dana L. Watson,75, of near Cumberland passed away on Tuesday October 22, 2013 at 2:40 pm in the home where he was also born on January 14, 1938 to the late Cecil and Icel (Pickenpaugh) Watson.
Dana was a 1956 graduate of Cumberland High School. He was a lifetime area farmer who was formerly employed with Long Trucking and retired from Central Ohio Coal in 2000 after 37 years of service. In addition he very proudly served his country in the United States Army serving in Korea.
Dana was a previous member of the Farm Bureau. A member of the United Mine Workers 1604 and Belgium Draft Horse Assoc.
Dana is survived by his wife of 55 years Janet (King) Watson whom he married Sept. 13, 1958; his children Margaret L. (Dennis) Watson of Knoxville, TN, Donna J. (Todd) Jasper of Dresden, Mack (Cindy) Watson of Cumberland and Jim R. (Christy) Watson of Zanesville; seven granddaughters Jessica, Sara, Katie, Emily, Jill, Dana Leigh, and Amelia and his five great grandchildren. In addition he is survived by his sister Mary (Charles) Bailey of Cumberland and his brother Richard (Patty) Watson of Zanesville as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many friends.
He is preceded in death by his beloved sister Betty E. Watson and several special aunts and uncles.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Cumberland FD or EMS, 444 W. Main Street, Cumberland
Visitations will be 3 to 7 pm Friday, October 25th 2013 at the Farus Funeral Home, 343 Main Street, Cumberland where funeral services will be Saturday at 11 am with the Pastor Keith Taylor and Rev. William Pickenpaugh officiating. Burial will be in the Cumberland Cemetery.
