Doris Shaver Mitchell

DUNCAN FALLS: Doris Shaver Mitchell, 94, went home to be with her Lord and Savior at 8:15 am on Saturday, August 31, 2013, at Cedar Hill Care Center, where she had resided the past 5 ½ years.

Doris was born December 3, 1918, the daughter of the late Everett and Jenny (Stall) Frame of Rural Dale. She graduated from Philo High School in 1937. After completing studies at Meredith Business College, Doris worked at Herdman Lumber Company in S. Zanesville before marrying Ralph Shaver and raising their family.

Doris was a member of Duncan Falls Baptist Church since 1952 after her home church in Rural Dale was destroyed by a tornado. She was a former member of Blue Rock and Carlwick Granges, Philo/Duncan Falls Homemakers and Duncan Falls/Philo Lioness Club.

Doris is survived by her son, Bruce (Christie) Shaver of Longmont, Colorado and three daughters, Carol (Gerald) Wagner, Martha (Ron) Thomas, both of Chandlersville, and Dixie (Don) Paul of Zanesville; grandchildren, Russ (Darla) Wagner, Robin (Jeff) Vaughn, Scott Shaver, Melissa (Mike) France, Stacey (Andy) Tinch, David (Tori) Thomas, Dennis Thomas and Jamie (Jacob) Brechko; 12 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Also surviving is a very special and faithful friend, John Rowland of Lancaster.

In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her first husband, Ralph Shaver who passed away in 1975, her second husband, Raymond Mitchell who passed away in 1985, Raymond’s children Don Mitchell, Marvel Stall and Mabel Stall, her brother, Herman Frame, and an infant grandson, Douglas Shaver.

Doris’ family would like to extend their sincere thanks and appreciation to all the staff at Cedar Hill Care Center who helped Doris thoroughly enjoy her time there as a resident.

Visitations will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, September 3rd, at Farus Funeral Home, Duncan Falls. The funeral will be at 11 am Wednesday, September 4th with Pastor Gerry Wade officiating. She will be laid to rest in the Duncan Falls Cemetery.
