JERRY LEE HARVEY SR.
August 22, 1942 – December 28, 2010
Jerry L. Harvey Sr. 68 of Zanesville passed away on December 28, 2010, at the Morrison House after a short courageous battle with lung cancer. He was a true fighter throughout.
Jerry was a devoted, caring, loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He worked from the age of 15 at odd jobs before landing a job at Gould National Battery as a casting machine operator for 20 years. He left upon closing of the plant. He later worked at Longaberger sanding handles for 8 years, before he became totally disabled. He enjoyed going to mass bingo seeing his friends and giving Verna and Carolyn a hard time. He enjoyed spending time with his family, peddling around in the garage, and working in his yard. He was an all around awesome man with great dignity. He never complained about anything even through his illnesses.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Carol Frances (Bickford), one son Jerry L. (Malinda) Harvey Jr. (Hopewell) and on daughter Lisa M. Smith (Zanesville). He has three grandsons Dustin C. Harvey (Newark), Michael J. and Joseph S. Hammers (Zanesville). He has four step grandsons Damion Morgan (Zanesville), Justin, LCPL Christopher, and Eric Weinstock (Hopewell). He has a great granddaughter Elizabeth Harvey (Newark). He has one brother Russell (Linda) Harvey (Newark), four sisters Sandy Young (Frazeysburg), Ellen Nabb (Zanesville), Patty Harvey (Zanesville), Lucille Reed (Zanesville). He has several in-laws Wanda Harvey (Zanesville), Stephen (Ardis) Mohler (New Straitsville), Patty French (Thornville), Larry Bickford (Chandlersville), Ronald Bickford (Dresden), and several nieces and nephews and lots of friend.
He was preceded in death by his father Andrew Harvey and mother Goldie (Passwater). His siblings were Pete (Donna) Harvey, Raymond (Buster) Harvey, Sonny Harvey, June Argo, Clara Evans, Ruth Taylor, and Shirley Jackson. His in-laws father Walter Bickford, mother Violet Bickford, Arthur Bickford, Don Bickford, and Gary Bickford.
Visitations will be held Thursday Dec 30-2010 from 2-4 & 6-8pm at Thompson-Farus Funeral Home, Duncan Falls, where services will be Friday at 1pm. Burial will follow in Chandlersville Cemetery.
