Robert J. “Jay” Harding, 80, of Zanesville, passed away at 11:05 p.m. Tuesday, August 14, 2012 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. He was born August 4, 1932, in Crooksville, a son of the late Clark Deloss and Ruth Estella Klingler Harding. He retired after 39 years of service as an electrician for Owens Corning. He was a member of Central Trinity United Methodist Church, where he sang in the church choir and was a prayer minister. He was a member of Order of the Eastern Star, was Past Master of Irville Lodge #184 F&AM and was an Alladin Shrine Clown in Columbus. He served our country and protected our freedom by serving in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Virginia L. Glick Harding, of the home, whom he married January 22, 1956 at Asbury Chapel in Hopewell; a daughter, Cynthia (Randy) Denbow of Warsaw, OH; a son, Brian Harding of Jacksonville, FL; two grandchildren, Matthew Jacob Denbow and Fawn Marie Denbow; a sister, Lucy (Charlie) Willison Sr. of Crooksville; several nieces and nephews; and lots of friends.
Friends and family may call from 12-2 p.m. Saturday, August 18, 2012 at THE SNOUFFER FUNERAL HOME, 1150 W MILITARY RD., ZANESVILLE, where Masonic Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Dr. Steven Fewell officiating. VFW George Selsam Post #1058 will hold full military rites at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date at Asbury Chapel Cemetery in Hopewell, OH.
