Virginia M. Smith, 78, of Zanesville, died at 12:20 A.M. Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at Genesis Good Samaritan Hospital. She was born November 12, 1934, in Zanesville, a daughter of the late George and Ella Mae Jenkins Davis. She was a member of North Terrace Church of Christ, and she loved to play euchre. Virginia was a wonderful mother and grandmother who made everyone feel welcome upon entering her home, especially by feeding them.
Surviving are a daughter Debbie Smith of Zanesville; a granddaughter Jennifer (Ethan) Heiney of Roseville; two great grandchildren, Claire and Charlie Heiney; a sister Edith Bowers of Zanesville; a brother Charles (Janice) Davis of Zanesville; many nieces and nephews including a special nephew Bruce Chema of Zanesville; a brother-in-law Bill (Susie) Smith of White Cottage; her faithful companion Princee; and her loving South Zanesville K-Mart family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles E. Smith, whom she married March 28, 1953, and who died June 26, 1995; a son, Charles E. Smith Jr.; six sisters Bernice Wright, Wilda Chema, Eileen Mohr, Annie Sims, Emma Hagan, and Marian Clossen; a brother George Robin Davis; and two furry friends, Bounce and Lang.
Friends and family may call from 2:00-4:00 P.M. & 6:00-8:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 2, 2013, at the Bolin-Dierkes Funeral Home, 1271 Blue Avenue, Zanesville, where funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, May 3, 2013. She will be laid to rest beside her beloved husband Charles at Zanesville Memorial Park Cemetery, Zanesville.
