Walter Paul Warne, 87, Philo, passed away at 5:23 pm, Thursday, January 14, 2010 surrounded by his family at his home.
Walter was born July 29, 1922 in Blue Rock and is the son of the late Willis and Madge (Cain) Warne. He was a member of the Sugargrove United Methodist Church and the Duncan Falls United Methodist Church. He was a member of the Harmony and Carlwick Grange accumulating over 60 years of membership. Walter was a member of the Muskingum County Country Music Hall of Frame and the Freeland Valley Antique Power Club.
Walter was a farmer by trade and worked 16 years for National Plumbing Pottery in Zanesville, leaving to assume a custodial position with the Franklin Local School District retiring after 18 years of service. After his retirement his duties became chief cook and transporter for his grandchildren as they finished school.
He is survived by his wife Norma ( Paul ) Warne whom he married June 1, 1946 a marriage of 63 years. His son Paul ( Kathleen) Warne of Philo; a daughter Deborah (Ronald) Kelly of Blue Rock; seven Grandchildren, Christopher Kelly and friend, Katherine (David) Imlay, Angela (David) Lafferty, Elizabeth Kelly and friend, Barbara (Daniel) Wickham, Christina (Cody) Makuh and Deanna Warne and 13 Great-Grandchildren; his brother James (June) Warne of Philo and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by two sisters Fauna Maxwell and Jessie White and a half brother Leo Warne.
Visitations will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm Saturday at the Thompson-Farus Funeral Home, Duncan Falls, where funeral services will be 2 pm Sunday with Rev. Tim Montieth and Rev. Sturman Moore officiating. Burial will follow in Duncan Falls Cemetery.
