Wells Vincent Whited was at home with his family on July 24, 2010 when was called away to meet his Lord. He was born in Barberton, Ohio on December 31, 1944, the son of the late Harry H. and Zelma M. (Skidmore) Whited. He leaves behind his wife of 42 years, Elizabeth (Bacon) Whited, four children, John A. (Peggy) Whited of Cumberland, Annette (Floyd) Berry of Philo, Mary Whited, Wells Deloss (Candy) Whited, of Cumberland and six grandchildren, John R. (Heather) Whited, Dakota Stillion, Juliana Rogers, Evan Rogers, Avery Whited, and Jack Berry. Three sisters, Barbara Sutter, Nancy Brooks both of Akron and Anita (Camden) Wanless of Newton Falls as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his aunt Sara J. Bibbee.
He was a good man and a volunteer. He volunteered for the U.S Army 1965 â€“ 1968 serving a year in Vietnam. He joined the Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department and E-Squad in 1970 where he served as a fireman and EMT and one year as Fire Chief until poor health made it necessary to withdraw.
He was a member of the VFW Post 10275 and the Dusters, Quads and Searchlights; a gathering of men who had served during the Viet Nam war.
He will be remembered as a quiet man who was proud of his work, loved his family and a good laugh with his friends.
Visitations will be 6 to 8 pm Tuesday, July 27, 2010 and 10 to 11 am Wednesday at the Tom & Farus Funeral Home, Cumberland, where funeral services will be 11 am.
Friends and family can gather at Cumberland Volunteer Fire Department after the service as there will be no graveside ceremony.
