The Southeast Ohio 2-1-1 call center released their monthly report Tuesday.

The call center is a free service open 24-7 to help callers with any informational questions they might have.

Teens in need in Muskingum, Perry and Morgan Counties tend to be an age group overlooked by charities and organizations during the holiday season.

The United Way's 2-1-1 Call Center has identified an unmet need of children 13 and over. The center has a list of children who need help for Christmas.

2-1-1 continues to help southeast Ohio.

The numbers are in for the month of August and the volume of calls to the help-line keep increasing. Almost 1,600 calls were received last month. The 24/7 service focuses on getting callers in Muskingum, Perry and Morgan counties the help they need, when they need it.

The Southeast Ohio 2-1-1 Call Center saw a spike in calls as a result of the severe storms that moved through the area nearly two weeks ago.

In just one day, the center fielded over 220 calls, nearly quadrupling their normal daily call volume.

The Southeast Ohio 2-1-1 call center saw an increase in calls during the month of May.

Manager Audrey Foster said the increase in calls coincides with the summer season.

Food still remains the top priority for those who call 2-1-1 and foster said during the summer, those supplies for some come up short.

With tax day on Tuesday, the Southeast Ohio 2-1-1 Call Center is just about finished fielding tax prep calls.

The United Way provided free tax counseling services to eligible individuals and families from January through March.  Call Center Manager Audrey Foster said the clinics helped hundreds of people receive the maximum refund, and she shared some last-minute advice for those who haven't filed their paperwork yet.

The Southeast Ohio 2-1-1 call center has seen an increase in phone calls over the last month.

January saw over 400 more calls from the previous month from Muskingum county alone.

Call center manager Audrey Foster said a third of the total number of calls were for financial counseling and tax preparation.

"One of the things I'd like to stress for the tax calls is that they call just during office hours between 8 o'clock in the morning and 4:30 p.m.," said Foster....

The Southeast Ohio 2-1-1 Call Center is preparing for a high volume of calls as the holiday season approaches.

More Americans are living in poverty, and people in Muskingum County are experiencing tough times.

New census data shows that just over 15% of Americans fell below the poverty line in 2010 - the highest rate in 18 years.  2-1-1 call center manager Audrey Foster said the service has answered more than 1,300 phone calls each month since June.

The 2-1-1 Call Center is thanking the community for helping elderly and disabled residents cool off this summer.

Manager Audrey Foster said 117 fans were donated by people in Zanesville.  She said the AK Steel corporate office also donated $1000, which paid for an additional 25 fans and 4 air conditioners.
