According to Auto Club AAA, getting your car inspected before hitting the road this summer is essential.

Enhanced driving laws have impacted the amount of teens involved in fatal crashes.

A recent AAA study analyzed teen driving data between 1994 and 2013. It found that the amount of people killed annually from accidents involving teens dropped from 56 to 51 percent. Even still, teens, compared to other drivers, have a higher rate of being involved in accidents.

Lower gas prices in recent years means more drivers are expected to take to the roads this long Memorial Day Weekend. 

AAA Travel projects 37.2 million Americans will journey 50 miles or more from home during this weekend. A 4.7 percent increase from last year. 1.44 million of those will be from Ohio, with 1.3 million traveling by automobile.

Maysville High School students learned a lesson in car maintenance Tuesday.

The Maysville School District partnered with AAA to give students the lesson. Ten inspectors helped check around 75 students' vehicles during the event. Director of Safety for the Maysville Local School District, Rick Roush, said the district does this event each year around prom time.

Being distracted behind the wheel can literally be a driving force in thousands of accidents across the country.

A study done by AAA finds that distraction played a role in 58 percent of teen crashes studied. Sergeant Chuck Merryman with the Ohio State Highway Patrol said it's something that officers deal with on a daily basis.
