Voting season is officially underway in Ohio for the November general election.

The Secretary of State's office said more than 9,700 ballots statewide, including 51 from Muskingum County for military and overseas voters were sent out Saturday.

The date of Ohio's 2012 primary is still up in the air, and it probably won't be decided for another few weeks.

Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted said the primary could be moved from May to March.  He said the reason for the switch is so Ohio voters don't get left out of the presidential nominating process, but there's an obstacle in the way.

Early voting is underway.

Muskingum County Board of Elections Director Chris Hamill says 6,400 applications have been requested for absentee voters. She says some people aren't sure how they want to vote on Election Day.

"This way they can take their ballot and have it either mailed to them or they can carry their own ballot out of the office and they have the luxury to go home, sit down and review that ballot before they make a final decision," says Hamill.

Early voting is officially underway in Ohio for the upcoming November Election.

The Muskingum County Board of Elections had everything ready for voters who were ready to cast their ballots.

"We've been very busy. We've had a steady flow of voters come in Tuesday, which is good. We've also mailed out several applications Tuesday, several ballots Tuesday," says Executive Director, Chris Hamill.

Voting in the November Election begins in a few days.

Early voting starts Tuesday, September 28th. So far, 1,200 applications have been submitted, requesting an absentee ballot.

"It's a very good number. It's a high number. I look for more and more people to vote absentee. You have a lot of different parties or different groups that do send out applications for absentee ballots, " says Muskingum County Board of Elections Executive Director, Chris Hamill.
