The City of Zanesville plans to lease a building once designated as the new location of the north end firehouse.

The property at 1674 Fairview Road was owned by McCullough's Tree Service and was purchased by the city. Lack of funding, put a project on hold that would have turned it into a fire house. Now, the city is leasing it to the Appalachian Center for Collaborative and Engaged Learning.

There's an opportunity this summer for kids to pick up a paycheck and learn life skills along the way.

The Muskingum County Opportunity Center received a $280,000 grant from the State of Ohio to employee those between the ages of 14-24. Those eligible will be paid minimum wage and work 25 hours a week. There are requirements to be eligible including meeting a set household income. If you have a hard time navigating the web, a local organization is offering some help.

The Appalachian Center for Collaborative and Engaged Learning or "ACCEL" applied for broadband stimulus funding a year ago. They were awarded $3.1 million to educate the community about the resources available to them on the web.
