According to the Zanesville Police Department a severe accident involving one motorcycle occurred on I-70 at the Maple Ave. off ramp around 5:00p.m. Sunday evening.

Authorities were able to identify the male victim at the scene, but did not release his name. According to ZPD, a witness says they saw the motorcyclist miss his turn and hit the gravel before going down the embankment and crashing.

The Highway Patrol says one lane of I-70 is closed after a semi accident.  Troopers say it happened around 4:30 p.m. Monday in the eastbound lanes near New Concord when a semi struck a guardrail and jackknifed.  The Patrol says one lane is open to traffic.  No other details have been released.

Two Newark women were sent to the hospital following an accident near the Y-Bridge Monday afternoon.

According to police, the accident occurred around 2:30 p.m. when a Chevy Lumina that was heading toward the Y-Bridge on West Main Street went off the left side of the roadway, through a grass field at a high rate of speed, and crashed over the emankment of the river.  The vehicle flipped several times before coming to rest right beside the river.

***UPDATE***10:50 am.  -- The Highway Patrol says both lanes of I-70 Westbound are open near Gratiot after a semi accident...but traffic is still slow due to construction in the area.


If you are driving from Zanesville to Columbus I-70 is closed in both lanes.  The Ohio Department of Transportation says both westbound lanes are closed near the Gratiot area.  A semi tractor trailers accident is blocking the highway. No word when the highway will reopen...

The Zanesville Post of the Highway Patrol is investigating an accident. 

It happened Monday afternoon at the intersection of Camden and Highland Roads. Trooper Bill Duerson says 32-year-old Anthony Harlan was driving south on Camden in a Chrysler Cirrus LX when he failed to stop at a stop sign and went into the yard of a home at 2110 Highland. The vehicle then crashed through a fence and into a traile.

The 4th of July holiday accident started early this year. The Zanesville Post of the Highway Patrol is investigating a two vehicle accident on I-70 Thursday afternoon.  It happened just before 2:30 p.m. just east of Gratiot in the eastbound lanes.  Initial reports indicate a van and a camper were involved in the accident and the camper ended up on its side and the van ended up in the median.  No word yet on injuries.  The accident remains under investigation.

The Ohio Department of Transportation says both lanes of State Route 146 at Vickers Hill reopened after an accident.  It involved two cars, a semi tractor trailer and a van.  It happened around 4 p.m. and the road was closed while the scene was investigated. Traffic resumed around 5:30 p.m..  The Highway Patrol is investigating the accident that resulted in at least one injury.

The Zanesville Highway Patrol says a couple arguing may have lead to an accident on State Route 60 North Monday morning.  Trooper Samuel Hendricks says 35-year-old Leonard Hastings of Frazeysburg was traveling south on 60 near Fairview Road – at a high rate of speed and arguing with his girlfriend when he lost control of his car.  The trooper says the vehicle went off the right side of the road, grazed a power pole, down an embankment and hit a ditch.  Hastings was...

A single car accident on Interstate 70 West slowed traffic Sunday afternoon.

The accident occurred around 1:30 p.m. near mile marker 169 east of Zanesville. According to the Zanesville post of the State Highway Patrol, a red Mercury Sable GS driven by 64-year-old Richard Noll of Zanesville was traveling westbound when he made an improper lane change and lost control striking the outside guardrail. The Cambridge Post of the Highway Patrol says two accidents near Cambridge forced the closing of I-70 for a few hours today.  It happened around 8:30 this morning.  Troopers say an accident on 70 just about one mile east of the State Route 209 exit had slowed traffic onto one lane.  Investigators say that is what caused a more spectacular accident near the 209 exit.  Troopers say 58-year-old Jonathan Danberry was stopped in his semi tractor trailer on I-70 when another...
